Local history course: The Railways of Kirkby-in-Ashfield

A free short five-week course on the ‘History of the Railways at Kirkby-in-Ashfield’ is taking place at Kirkby-in-Ashfield Library, between 10.00 am to 12 Noon every Friday, from the 4th of March 2022 to the 1st of April 2022.

Sessions cover the individual railway lines of Kirkby in Ashfield, and is open to the public as part of the Lottery Heritage funded ‘Steaming Back to Kirkby’ (SB2K) railway project.

Course dates:

  • 4 March – Mansfield and Pinxton Railway
  • 11 March – Midland lines and Kirkby Loco Shed and Sidings
  • 18 March – Great Central lines including the Mansfield Railway.
  • 25 March – Great Northern Leen Valley Extension & Great Northern North to East Curve
  • 1 April – The 1972 Deviation and the Robin Hood Line
