The Metal Box Branch
The daily Metal Box train originally ran via local GN lines and from 4th April 1972 via a short branch constructed as part of the 1972 Kirkby deviation line. They finished running sometime in the late 1980’s.
GNR North to East curve at Kirkby-in-Ashfield
The little used GNR north to east curve was constructed while the difficult section of the GNR Leen Valley Extension line was built between Kirkby South Junction (GCR) & East Kirkby Junction (GNR).
Robin Hood Line – Stage 2 opening 30th anniversary
30 years ago on 20th November 1995 regular timetabled passenger trains returned to Ashfield and Mansfield after a gap of 31 years when Stage 2 of the Robin Hood Line opened.
Building Stage 2 of the Robin Hood Line
A new section of railway was built at Kirkby-in-Ashfield in 1994-95 as part of Stage 2 of the Robin Hood Line.
